He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U S Navy from December 8, 1943 to February 11, 1946, and had been a longtime Springfield, VT resident. He was a truck driver for Utilgas Corp for many years and had previously driven for Davis and Simonds Lumber and BFI.
He married Irene Corcoran on May 20, 1950 in Claremont but they divorced on November 3, 1959.
He married Ramona (Davis) Wentzell on November 21, 1959 in Claremont but they later divorced on January 20, 1972 in Windsor, VT.
He was preceded in death by brother Armand in 1958 and sister Delia Johnson in 2000.
Survivors include five sons Joseph of Unity, NH, Dennis and Armand of Springfield, VT, Michael of Charlestown, and Richard of Bennington, VT; two daughters Patricia Ladd of Winchester, NH and Mary Relyea of Pistakee Islands, IL; eighteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a brother Raymond of Granville, NY.
Burial is in St Mary's Cemetery.
