Sally Bradley Elsey, 83, a fifth-generation District resident who administered achievement tests in area schools, died of cancer November 19 at her home.
Mrs. Elsey was born in the District and graduated from the Madeira School in 1937. She attended George Washington University but left to enroll in the Nurses Aide Corps of the D.C. Chapter of the American Red Cross. She served throughout World War II.
After the war she returned to the Madeira School, filling various staff and volunteer positions, including Director of Admissions, Secretary of the Alumni Association and Alumna Representative on the school's Board of Directors.
When her children got older she returned to George Washington University, receiving her bachelor's degree in 1970.
She also did graduate work in educational testing methods at Catholic University and administered achievement tests in public and private schools from 1970 to the mid 1980s.
She was a member of the Palisades Community Church, where she served as President of the Women's Club.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, George McKee Elsey of the District; two children of the District and Irvine, California and two grandsons.
