Charles Raymond Campbell,
78, of Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Butler, Ky., passed away August 17, 2003 after an extended illness.
He was born in Hazard, Ky. On August 21, 1924 to Charles and Susan (Caldwell) Campbell.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Meinach Campbell, one daughter Judy (Dan) Jed of Bowling Green, Ky., two sons Randal Keith (Debbie) Campbell, Oklahoma City, Oka. And Bobby (Lilce) Campbell of Mulberry, Fla. One son Billy Ray Campbell of Brooksville, Ky. Preceded him in death. He leaves seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A brother Woolery Campbell of Tampa, Fla.
He was retired from the U.S. Army, serving in World War II and retired from General Motors in Norwood, Ohio.
He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Zephyrhills and a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services were held on August 21, 2003 at the Wittfield Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A.C. Bryant and Rev. Milton Tenhaus officiating.
He was laid to rest in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa with full military services provided by an Army post from Savannah, Georgia.
Ray was an avid sports fan and was a golfer. He took pride in the fact that Tim Couch from the Cleveland Browns was his great nephew. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
