Henry Perkins shared a Jividen family history paper his mother, Lola Ellen Perkins, gave him with Carolyn Jividen Miller December 12, 1998.
"In April of 1903, Geordia Jividen traveled by train from Putnam County, WV, home steading and purchasing a relinquished claim, he built a three room home for his family, which was to arrive later. Cora and nine small children made the long tiresome journey in the Spring by train.
Geordia and Cora had six children after moving to OK, Flora Audra, Harvey Delta, Kenneth Earl, Maybelle Anna, Estel Robert and Violet Louise.
The Jividen Family settled on a farm 11 miles NW of Woodward and lived there until 1926, when they moved to Woodward; however they kept the homestead with different ones of the family living on the "home place" at different times. Geordie was a jailer in Woodward, living in quarters in the Court House from January 1929 until February of 1933. His family moved to a residence in Woodward at 5th and Jackson, where he was residing when he passed away. Geordia died in March of 1935 at the age of 70. Cora passed away in May of 1962, just 3 days before her 84th birthday. They are buried in the Rock Church Cemetery in Harper County.
Geordia is remembered for his strong character and honesty; he was a help to his community and helped establish the Church of Christ in Woodward County. He demanded the respect of those around him and provided for his family in hard times, by hard work. Cora was a faithful helpmate for her husband, a hard working woman, good mother, grandmother and friend. Her Faith meant everything to her and she loved her family, down to the great great grandchildren. She was of a gentle nature but yet a strong woman in character. Cora and Geordia had 24 grandchildren and hopefully some of their fine qualities have been passed down.
