Marie H. Cameron of Oxford

Marie H. Cameron, 86, of Oxford, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, surrounded by her loving daughters and the devoted staff of Ware Presbyterian Village.
She was the widow of George W. Cameron.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late W. C. and Ada Evans Humes.
During World War II, she was a secretary for Commander Russell, the commanding officer of Bainbridge Naval Training Center.
Marie and her husband started the Nottingham Canning Co. in 1951. The cannery was later purchased by L.K. Bowman Co., then by Robert Shelton and finally by Hanover Foods. She retired in 2000 from Hanover Foods of Lancaster, after 41 years of service.
She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Octorara Chapter #463, both in Oxford. She was also a former treasurer of the Winners Class of the Oxford United Methodist Church and a former member of the Oxford Research Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean, wife of Nicholas Castelli of Nottingham, and Nancy, wife of David Harpe of West Grove; three grandchildren, Heather B. Schrantz of New Holland, Karen C. Taylor of Landenberg, and Joshua C. Harpe of Little Britain; and four great-grandchildren, Andy, Brendon, Alyssa and Aidan.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Becker of New Holland.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 16, at the Edward L. Collins Funeral Home Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford, where friends and family man call after 10 a.m. Monday.
Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery.
