To the Memory of
Genl. HOMER V. MILTON,
who died on the 27th day of April in the year 1822
in the 41st year of his age.
The deceased was an Officer in the regular Army
during the late war between the United States
and Great Britain and distinguished himself
in several engagements with the enemy of his Country.
He was a gallant soldier, an ardent friend quick to
resent and as ready to forgive & forget an injury,
knew no malice, "had a tear for pity and a hand
open as day to melting charity." May the ashes
rest lightly on thy head departed friend.
