Jerome Aloysius Finn, 78, of 804 Sunbury Road, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born Dec. 6, 1931, in Nanticoke, a son of the late Thomas and Mary Theresa (McDonald) Finn. He was married for 57 years to the former Joan Mida Walters, who survives.

He was a 1951 graduate of Ashley High School and served in the Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Jerry was a true entrepreneur. He began his career at the Philadelphia Inquirer. Later, he started the Nanticoke Daily Press and founded and operated Finn's News Agency in Danville.

He was a member of St. Joseph Church, a fourth-degree knight of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the Elks and American Legion and a member of the Moose and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Danville. He was a former member of the Frosty Valley Country Club, Danville, and was former commander of the Disabled American Veterans Association.

Jerry was a boxer, an avid golfer and a zealous Norte Dame fan, and he loved dancing with his beloved wife. Jerry's family meant everything to him.

He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Charles Yost; two brothers, Thomas and Charles Finn; and one sister, Mary Reddy.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at St. Hubert's Chapel of St. Joseph Church, 18 E. Center St., Danville, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday.

Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Brady Funeral Home, Danville.
