Thomas Kendall, aged 74, a veteran of the Civil War and well-know resident of Syracuse , Died at his home , 610 Vine St. Sunday morning, after a long illness.
While marching to the battle of Bull Run he received a sunstroke, from which he never fully recovered. Mr. Kendall was born in Germany and came to this city with his parents when was 8 years old. At the out break of the Civil War he enlisted with the Company B. Twelfth Regiment, New York State Volunteers, Which was organized in Syracuse. He served through the campaign. Among the important battles in which he was engaged were Gettysburg , Big Bethel , Gaines Mill, and Bull Run.
After returning to Syracuse he took up cigar making and worked at that trade until he retired , 20 years ago.
Besides his wife he survived by two sons, Charles A. and John A. Kendall
and six daughters , Mrs. Amelia Kendall, Mrs.Charles Rowe , Mrs. William Rowe, Mrs. Harvey Abells , Mrs. Alburtus Waterbury, and Mrs. William Blakley.
The furnel will be held privately from his home Wednesday at 9 a.m. with services at St. Vincents de Pauls church at 9:3
