Elizabeth "Betsey" Minnix was a daughter of Abner Minnix and Hannah Renfro/Rentfro Minnix. She had eight siblings.
Elizabeth "Betsey" Minnix married Capt. Gideon Graham on October 14, 1838 in Marshall County, Alabama. They had ten children.
Senator Gideon W. Graham's wrote in his book, "The Dawson-Graham and Allied Families," that Elizabeth Minnix was the "daughter of Nathaniel Minnix" and "Elizabeth Renfro." Senator Gideon W. Graham also wrote "About the year 1890 my grandfather and his wife moved to Indian Territory -- settled near Afton in order to be near my father, John W. Graham, whom they loved dearly. My grandmother was the first to pass -- going in 1899 at the age of 76 years." Research has proven Elizabeth's parents were Abner Minnx and Hannah Rentfro/Rentfro. Afton was in Oklahoma, Indian Territory in 1899, now known as Afton, Ottawa, Oklahoma. Elizabeth's age of 76 years is supported by a birth year of 1823 and US census records 1850 through 1880. The 1890 census record was lost.
Another birth year for Elizabeth "Betsey" Minnix has been sited as 1821. Another birth place for Elizabeth "Betsey" Minnix has been sited as Alabama. Both are incorrect.
There is no gravestone marking Elizabeth "Betsey" Minnix Graham's grave.
