Son of John Wellborne Abbott, Sr. (1873–1953) and Caroline Eugenia Wingo Abbott (1878–1936).
Survivors include his sisters, Thelma Eugenia Abbott (1902-1992), Frances Caroline Abbott King (1915–1987), and Virginia Elaine Abbott Mack (1919-2000)
Also predeceased by brothers, Wingo Abbott (1906–1942), Kinard Doyle Abbott (1902-1953).
Services were held at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home by Rev. Jack Causey; burial in Wellford Cemetery.
