War of 1812
Born in Georgia, a son of Jacob Seagraves. Went to Maury Co, Tenn. when a young man; came to southern Illinois in spring of 1818, and to Bond county in 1929. Veteran of War of 1812. Buried in Lot # 34. Purchased 80 acres from USA on March 21, 1831, West half of NW1/4 of Sec. 11, T5N-R2W. He had his log cabin in the NW corner of this 80 acres. The Seagraves School was built in this immediate area, NW of his home. Bennett's father, Jacob, was of Scotch descent, and a Revolutionary War Soldier, and died in Clinton county June 7, 1935. He was supposed to have been buried somewhere on the Clinton-Bond line. Jacob's children by his first wife were: Vincent, Bennett, Daniel, Isaac, Sara; by his second wife were: Jacob, John, Henry Jackson, Elizabeth Jane (called Betsy), Polly, Malinda.

Bennett was my 4th great grandfather on my father's (Thomas Kuhn) side of the family, and my grand uncle 4x removed on my mother's (Ella Berniece Rench)side of the family.Not too unusual in Bond County Il.|
