Notes from my aunt Nina*:

Core's youngest brother David had been having hard times. His wife Minnie Belle died in childbirth in 1920, and the baby died as well. The baby was stillborn. "I do remember Daddy telling us that it had rained for days and they had to bring the bodies out of where they lived at Gober in a wagon because it was so muddy. She was buried at Gober Cemetery."

David did his best to hold his little brood of four together while he worked the fields. One day in 1923 David Lockaby came in from a hot and strenuous day in the fields and collapsed with heat stroke and died of a heart attack. Uncle Will and Aunt Core' took in two of the boys, Willis and Coy Lockaby. Willis was 10 at the time and Coy was 8. Coy died later in 1925 from pneumonia."

* My grandmother Cora (Rosetta Cora Mae Lockaby) Jordan, was the sister and sister-in-law of David and Minnie Lockaby. These notes come from my aunt Nina, daughter of gramma Cora.
