Commander F. T. Berry, USN, was designated Naval Aviator #3664 (lighter-than-air) in 1930. Graduated U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1908.

Died in the crash of the airship USS AKRON (ZRS-4) off the New Jersey coast.

In 1945, the destroyer USS FRED T. BERRY (DD-858) was named in his honor.
