Peter Johann Jasper(s) was born on 20 January 1850 in Illekoven, Limburg, Netherlands. He was the oldest son of Peter Renier and Anna Catharina (Schmits) Jasper(s). Peter along with his parents and brothers (Leonard & Mathys) arrived in New York on 15 May 1862. They were part of a large Dutch-Catholic immigration party (162 families) that originally settled in Carver County, Minnesota. On 7 January 1873, Peter wed Maria "Theresia" Schneider in the Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska, Carver County, Minnesota. Maria "Theresia" was born on 2 May 1852 in Racine, Racine, Wisconsin and is the oldest daughter of John Martin and Maria (Weber) Schneider. Peter and "Theresia" had 15 children: Maria b. 1874, Leonard b. 1874, Annie b. 1876, Elizabeth b. 1879, John Leonard b. 1881-1936, Martin b. 1882-1946, Hubert b. 1883-1929, Mathias b. 1884-1966, Michael W. b. 1885-1965, Henry b. 1886-1946, George Anton b. 1888-1974, Kate b. 1889- 1925, Margaret b. 1893-1918. Two other children died in infancy.

OBITUARY:

Peter Jasper, age 82, died at the home of his son, Matt Jasper, LeBlanc Street, early yesterday morning from complications following an attack of influenza.

He is survived by six sons, John, Martin, Mike, Matt, Henry and George, all of Crookston, and two daughters, Mrs. Peter Nelson and Mrs. Joe DeGuise, both of Minneapolis. His wife died about 15 years ago.

Mr. Jasper was born in Holland, January 20, 1850 and carrie to the United States when he was 12 years old. He settled in Minneapolis and resided there until 1900, when he moved to Polk County. He farmed in the vicinity of Crookston for many years and about a year ago moved into the city to live with his son.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Cathedral with Rev. Father Wurm officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. The casket will be open this evening at the Stenshoel Funeral Home and until the time of the funeral tomorrow.

Great-great Grandfather.

This is my biological 2nd Great-Grandfather. He and much of his Dutch extended family, originally immigrated to Carver County, Minnesota in the early 1860's.
