Shirley, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, age 82, of St. Louis, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, at her home with her family by her side. Shirley was born the daughter of the late Mildred A. (Holden) Burns and Melvin A. Burns. She attended Webber Elementary, Webber Junior High and Saginaw High School. She married Herbert Beecham on June 28, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas, enjoying 65 years together. They spent 28 winters in Florida where she made many friends. She loved to read, travel and do crafts.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Herbert Beecham of St. Louis, two daughters, Renee (Burt) Wynes of Eureka, Montana and Karen Maleski of Alma, three grandchildren, Terry (Kim) Wynes of Seattle, Washington, Angela (Mike) Richard of Troy, New York and Andrew (Leticia) Maleski of Elko, Nevada and a great granddaughter, Katie Wynes. Also her siblings, Donna Burns, Bette Ponichtera, Melvin Burns and Kay (Art) Archambo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Keith Burns, a brother-in-law, Jeromne Ponichtera, a son-in-law, Daniel Maleski and a niece, Becky Olson. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alma, MI. Fr. Kevin Maksym will officiate with burial in East Lawn Cemetery in Saginaw, MI. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the American Cancer Society.
