He is survived by his two daughters and sons in laws, Janelle and Jerry Woody of Odessa, and Margaret and Dwane Vowell of Simonton, Texas, nine grandchildren, Heidi Flatt and fiancé, Enoch Hill, Amy (Woody) Rivera and husband, Mike, Eric Flatt, Emily Vowell, Gretchen (Flatt) Pool, Jeremy Woody, Aaron Vowell and wife, Lacy, Kristen Flatt and Aaron Flatt; three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Pool and Kurt and Skylar Vowell, three brothers, Wayne Wilson, Hilton Wilson and Ellis Wilson.
Walter served in the United States Army during WWII with the 5th Armored Division under General George Patton. He married Norma Scott in 1947. Walter had his well drilling operations in Merrill for fourty-eight years. He was also very involved with many civic activities in Merrill, Oregon, especially the Lions Club. It was a great honor to have the new building at the Merrill Civic center dedicated in his name – The Walt Wilson Hall #1.
Walter will be long remembered for his many acts of charity in the community, his willingness to help anyone at anytime and his cheery bright smile. So Walter, "Be a good boy and be careful."
Rosary is scheduled for 7 pm, Sunday, November 26, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel. Funeral service is scheduled for 10 am, Monday, November 27 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with Jimmy Brazwell officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Hospice House, 903 N Sam Houston, Odessa, 79761.
