The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona - 07/11/2003

Glen Fred Clark, 77, died July 5, 2003 in Phoenix.

He was born July 8, 1925 to William B. and Mae Bell Clark in Springville, Utah. He spent his youth in Springville, graduating from high school there in 1943. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1946.

He married his high dchool sweetheart, Carol Cherrington, Oct. 4, 1945, in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. After the war he attended B.Y.U. where he played football and obtained his teaching degree. For the next 38 years he taught school and coached at South Sevier High School in Monroe, Utah, Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, and Snowflake Union High School in Snowflake.

He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many different positions. When he retired from teaching in 1986, he and his wife, Carol, served a mission for their church in Portland, Oregon. They then served as Temple workers in the Mesa Arizona Temple from 1990 thru March 2002. They continued their service in the Snowflake Arizona Temple until his death. Serving the Lord was a great joy in his life. Glen enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, playing golf, fishing and hunting with his dog, Kermit. Over the years he was often occupied with sports in one capacity or another; playing, coaching, as a referee or just watching. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his eternal companion of 57 years, Carol of Snowflake; and their children, Karen (Larry) Larson of Snowflake, Joyce Nikolaus of Show Low, Vicci (Jim) Giger of Show Low, John (Suzan) of Grenada, Mississippi, and Mary (Rex) Shumway of Winslow; one brother, Lawerence J. of Provo, Utah; and one sister, Rae Williams of Orem, Utah; 32 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Glen was preceded in death by his son Steven; two sons-in-law, Gerry Nikolaus and Charles Ruark; his parents; four sisters; and one brother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2003, at 1 p.m. in the Snowflake L.D.S. Stake Center. Family and friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake or Saturday prior to the service beginning at 11:30 at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.

A heartfelt thanks to all who have cared for and loved Daddy during his life and especially this past year.
