Chauncy Price Haight, LTC US Army (Ret.), 89, died at the Fairfax Inova Hospital July 17, 2009 of causes incident to age. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gayle Alice Baker Haight, and five children: Clayton Price Haight; Shauna Rae Haight Dougherty and husband, Francis; David Baker Haight and wife Bonnie; Matthew James Haight and wife Lisa; and Steven Paul Haight and wife Laurie. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mr. Haight and his family are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Price was born in Cedar City, Utah on January 14, 1920. He served in the 222nd Field Artillery National Guard when it was federalized in March 1941. He served in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. He graduated from the University of Utah. Price was recalled to active duty to serve in Korea from 1951 to 1952. The Haight family served in Germany, Greece, and at military posts in the USA. The family moved to Fairfax, Virginia in 1965 when LTC Haight was assigned to the Pentagon and subsequently served in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1969, and worked as a comptroller in hospital administration. Later, he did contract work for the Department of Energy.

His hobby and avocation was playing the clarinet and saxophones. He belonged to the Kings Park Band, City of Fairfax Band, The Alte Kameraden, and Constellation Band, and he also played in the Alexandria Citizens Band for many years.

The funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, 4911 Ox Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22032 on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 at 6:30 p.m., with a visitation period from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A military burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Monday September 28, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Family to meet at the administration building at 8:30 a.m.
