C. Feb. 15, 1862 capt. March 17-Sept. 9, 1862 in charge of Signal office at Washington, D. C. October 1862-May 1863 chief signal officer, Army of the Potomac; Feb. 9, 1863 capt., commissary-subsistence, U. S. Army; May 29, 1863 declined an appointment as maj., Signal Corps.
