On Monday morning, Mrs. F. A. Newnam of Epworth died quite suddenly at her home. She arose in the morning as usual and went out into the garden, where she collapsed. She was taken into the house and a doctor was hurriedly sent for, but before he arrived she had passed away. Death was due to heart failure. The deceased was, at the time of her death, 77 years old. She came to the Epworth country with her husband about 15 years ago from Shelbina, Missouri. She leaves a husband, F. A. Newnam, who is about 80 years old, a son Robert, and a daughter, Cora. All reside at Epworth where they homesteaded in 1902. The deceased and her husband were among the early settlers in the Epworth country, and while many of the other homesteaders came and went, this old couple remained on their homestead and encouraged others to do so and to start farming. Their explicit faith in the country has been amply rewarded. Mrs. F. A. Newnam was a lady that enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew her. She always had a kind word for everybody. Her voice is now stilled. Her helping hand is laid to rest. She has gone to receive her reward for work well done. She has stepped over the brink which all must cross, and 'When the sun in all his state,/ Illumined the eastern skies,/ She passed thru glory's morning gate, / And walked in Paradise.'
