Leatha Mae Maskel, 81, of 323 South Capitol Street, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Pekin Hospital.

Born April 26, 1928 in Pekin to Alfred and Luticia (Hammer) Gray, she married Charles Robert "Chuck" Maskel on May 21, 1949 in Bloomington. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dawn Maskel and Juliann (Tom Slicko) Wagner, both of Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Brandi Maskel; one brother, Leonard Gray and four sisters, Viola Goodin, Thelma Eye, Wilma Paul and Bonnie Baker.

Leatha had worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company and at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso, TX during the Korean War. During the 1960's Leatha operated Capitol Watch Repair and then worked at Sunset Lanes, both in Pekin. She also had worked as a real estate agent for Steele Realtors in Pekin and last as a secretary for the Pekin Moose Family Center 916.

She was a member and past senior regent of the Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter 673 and was the longtime coordinator for the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon held there each year.

An avid reader, Leatha enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren and crocheting. Her interests also included genealogy.

Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
