married 8-19-1847 in Montgomery County. William was born in Woolwich, Maine. Son of Abner Bailey (1796-1871) also lived in Telfair County, Burnt Fort then coming to Ware County in the 1855's. Mr Baliey settled a camp, composed of a number of families in tents, on what is now Williams Heights, which this place acquired the name of 'Yankee Town', supposed named because Mr. Bailey's former home was once 'Beyond the Mason and Dixon Line. This settlement was made for the purpose of cutting the timber on the surrounding lands and a area known as Bailey Heights. Mr. Bailey helped build the 1st Court House but later it burned. Children: James Stacy, William F., Mary M.(1852-1870), Eliza J., Josephine (1857-1943), John F., Georgia A. (1862-1917), Ida F. (1866-1867). (bio by: Donna Carter)
