Dorothy W. Betts, 88, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the IOOF Nursing Home of Ennis.
She was born on April 14, 1921 to Frank Newton and Carrie (Hogge) Wilson in Ennis, Texas. Dorothy grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High in 1938 and attended Trinity College where she earned her teaching degree. On December 6, 1944 she married D.W. (Dick) Betts and they made their home in Dallas before moving to Ennis in 1947.

Dorothy was the owner and operator of Amelia Ann Florist for fifteen years and was a substitute teacher for Central High School and Ennis Independent School District. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ennis and was the church Librarian.

She is survived by one son: Dwight Betts of Ennis: two grandchildren; Jolee Rene Betts and Jake Dellian Betts; one niece Mary Anthony of Amarillo and one nephew Joe McClendon of Dallas. She is preceded in death by her husband Dick Betts on April 8, 1996.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at J.E. Keever Mortuary. Graveside services will be on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. in Myrtle Cemetery with Rev. Keith Murray officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
