Doris Pedersen, the only child of Ethel and Melvin Thayer, was born in Hobson, Montana, April 29, 1914, and died at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, February 9, 1983, following an extended illness.
At the age of five, she moved from Montana to a farm near Ruskin.
July 28, 1935, she and Arthur Pedersen of Hardy were married in the Methodist Church in Nora. They made their home in the Hardy area until 1973, when they moved back to her girlhood home near Ruskin. To this union two daughters were born.
For many years she enjoyed being a 4-H club leader. She was a member of the Never Idle Club, the Womans Club Federation and the Danish Brotherhood.
Doris was baptized as a child and was confirmed on January 8, 1950, at Bethany Lutheran Church and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hardy, at the time of her death.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur; her daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Delbert Martens of of Boise, Idaho, and Karen and Jack Coffman of Kearney, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Debra Olmstead, Diane Martens and Curtis and Randy Coffman; and two great grandchildren, Nicole and Kenny Olmstead.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 12, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hardy with Pastor Ted McIntyre officiating. Interment was in the Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin. Williams Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements.
