Ervin was the fourth of eight children born to Emma Pauline (Radtke) and Herman Fred Belling. Ervin died at age 35 of chronic alcoholism. He married Myrtis R. Langdon in Appleton around April 1932 but the marriage ended in divorce before he died.

Ervin O. Belling, 35, 2001 N. Oneida street, died at his home at 4 o'clock this morning. He was born in Appleton March 25, 1905 and lived here all his life. He was a member of the Appleton Musicians Protective association the last 20 years and was a former member of the 120th Field artillery band. Mr. Belling belonged to Zion Luteran church.
Survivng are his mother, Mrs. Emma Belling, Appleton; brothers, Herbert, Norman, Nathan, Earl, Lester, Appleton, and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Redtor, Miss Grace Belling, Appleton.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at Wichmann Funeral home by the Rev. Theodore Marth. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. The body may be viewed at the funeral home after Tuesday noon.
