Churchill Bailey Jones, 97, of Williamsburg, died Monday, June 26, 2006. She was born the daughter of the late Ward H. Bailey and Nannie Gooch Bailey in Mercer Co., W.Va., on Dec. 29, 1908. She attended Marshall College (University) and was a teacher in Mercer County prior to her marriage. In later years, Mrs. Jones provided daycare for children. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and a member of Olive Branch Christian Church. Her husband, Welford M. Jones, whom she married on June 2, 1934, preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Maria J. Kerr; a grandson, Frank E. (Eddie) Kerr, Jr.; a granddaughter, Julie J. Rausch; a sister; and five brothers. Mrs. Jones is survived by a daughter, Rebecca J. Baker of Williamsburg, Va.; a son, W. Marshall Jones and wife, Virginia, of Front Royal, Va.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 28, at 11 a.m. in the Olive Branch Christian Church, with interment immediately following in the church cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to be made to the Olive Branch Christian Church, Norge, Va.
