WHOLE FAMILY DIES OF INJURIES IN HIGHWAY MISHAP.
MR. AND MRS. E CAMP AND SON KILLED WHILE WALKING ROAD.
An entire family was wiped out shortly after midnight Sunday morning when they was struck and fatally injured on New Jersey State Highway Route 49 between Eldora and Dennisville.
The dead are Ezekiel Camp, 43, an inspector at the Frankford Arsenal, his wife , May, 40, and their son James, 12. All live at 1312 Mt. Vernon Street, Philadelphia.
The Camp's were walking along the highway, returning to the home of relatives from a visit with friends when they were struck by an automobile operated by Carlos Shaw, at 224 West 24th Street , North Wildwood.
Shaw told Cape May Court House State Police that he had been forced off the shoulder of the road by a passing automobile and that he could not avoid striking the three walkers. He was arraigned before Justice Of the Peace, James Coatman, South Dennis, and held on $5,000 bail on a reckless killing by automobile charge to await the action of the Cape May County Grand Jury.
While the injured trio did not die instantly, all were pronounced dead upon arrival of the Millville Hospital. Local police, Coroner Richard B. Zimmerman and County Physician H. Garrett Miller assisted troopers with the case.
Camp was taken to the hospital by Paul Pinkley, 914 Washington Street, Cape May. His wife was taken to the hospital by Charles Tozour, Goshen. While the boy was driven here by Daniel Whilden Jr. 560 North 7th Street of this city.
According to friends of the deceased, the boy was visiting his Aunt Joanna Camp of Eldora and his parents had driven down here for the weekend.
Camp formally lived in the vicinity of Eldora and has many friends in the area.
