Alice E. Anderson ORANGE- Alice E. Proctor Anderson, 87, of Anderwood Point, died Monday evening, December 10, 2007 at the Charlene Manor in Greenfield, following an illness. Born on March 24, 1920 in Reform, Alabama, she was a daughter of John and Mary Strong Proctor.

Alice was married to Col. Reid J. Anderson in 1944 and had enjoyed 30 years together till his death in 1974.

She was a long time summer resident of Lake Mattawa in Orange, spending 40 years on the point enjoying the lake and its surroundings.

Alice received her Masters Degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore and was a Dietician at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore for 30 years. An accomplished seamstress, Alice was known to make clothes for many years and even knitted sweaters for family at Christmas. Besides her love of sewing and knitting, she loved flowers and was known to refinish some furniture as well.

Survivors include her children, Rita Connors of Portland, OR, Charmine Sundell of Easthampton, CT, Robyn Burtling of St. Louis, MO, Jeff Anderson of Orange, MA, and Gayle Grimm of Orlando, FL; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters; and many nephews and nieces.

Besides her husband, Alice was predeceased by 2 brothers.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services and interment in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., will be private.
