Young County records show a tombstone was provided by the US Government for his grave as a deceased Union Civil War Veteran.
No tombstone was located at the grave. It is possible that a tombstone was there at one time, but this graveyard is in the middle of a field and there is no fence around the cemetery.
Enlisted in Company B, Iowa 36th Infantry Regiment on 3 September 1862. Mustered out on 30 April 1864. Transferred to on 30 April 1864. Mustered out on 4 October 1865 at Davenport, Iowa.
