Husband of Elizabeth Stevenson Kelley. Son of Joshua Ford and Sarah Kelley Ford of Baltimore County, Maryland.
Again we are called to chronicle the death of one of Jerauld
county's early settlers - Thomas Kelley Ford; who died at Madison,
South Dakota, February 12th, 1897, of LaGrippe terminating in
He was born in Baltimore County, Maryland, July 21st, 1819. At
the age of eight years he went with his parents to Harrison County,
Ohio, where he lived ten years, and then removed to Hardin
County, Ohio. He was married to Elizabeth Stevenson in 1846,
and in a few years moved to Iowa, where they found a home till
May 20th, 1882, when they came to Dakota.
He was converted when a young man and was a member of the M.
E. church till 1881, when he united with the Free Methodist church,
and continued a respected member of the same till death.
He was not aware of being dangerously sick until near the close.
He passed away peacefully. His last words were "The Lord is
good. His mercy endureth forever."
The funeral was attended at his late home, in Viola Township,
February 17th, at 11:00 A.M. Rev. J. B. Freeland had charge.

He leaves a wife, five sons and two daughters to mourn the loss of
a loved husband and father. Peace to his memory.
