Lucy Stevens is the tenth child of thirteen children born to Charles Franklin Stevens Jr. and Aurelia Spencer.

Taken from a history "Early Pioneer Life" about Charles Franklin Stevens Jr. and his wife Aurelia Spencer Stevens, "Not having any little children for so long in their home they about idolized her as she was so bright. They went on the mountain with her when she was 7 months old for an outing, they being so pleased and proud of their Lucy they wanted their friends to see her. So they planned a trip to Dixie for Peach Day. The weather being very warm on their arrival there the baby took sick and wasn't like herself while they were there. When they arrived at their home the little one was very ill but no medical aid seemed to help her so she was taken from them leaving a sorrowful family, they were completely broken up for a long time, but it seemed that the Lord wanted their child, as they had been very careful with their baby."

Lucy was her parents' sixth child (of seven) to die in infancy.
