William Edgar Turner was born in Paulding County, the eldest child of Benjamin Oni Turner and Jennie Conn Turner. His brother and sister were named Clarence and Nora Turner. Edgar was educated in the Dallas and Rome Public Schools.
On June 22, 1913 in Paulding County, Edgar married Vinnie Wigley, daughter of John Jefferson Wigley and Ruthie Ann Miller Wigley, of Paulding County.
Mr. Turner's occupation was with the Fairbanks Company in Rome, GA, where he had served as Foreman and Superintendent for fifty years. He was a member of the Cherokee Lodge 66, F & AM, having served as worshipful master in 1929. He was also a deacon and member of the West Rome Baptist Church and member of the Low Twelve Club.
Edgar and Vinnie had three daughters named Ann Lois, Moyra Aline and Mary Helen.
The funeral was held on Wednesday, August 12, 1970 at West Rome Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Vines officiating. Interment was in the family lot in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers included the deacons of West Rome Baptist Church and members of Cherokee and Oostanaula Lodges.
