Rhoda E. Black, age 84, of the Grassy Fork Community, passed away Friday, September 5, 2003, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.

She was a member of Black’s Chapel Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Black; son, Arlie Black; parents, James and Louise Rose Wild; granddaughter, Deborah Coggins Moore; two grandsons, Ferman Vaughn Coggins and Benjamin Stanley Benton; also, 13 brothers and sisters.She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Carl (Shirley) Coggins, Mrs. Creed (Vinita) Coggins, Mrs. Berlin (Wanda) Benton, Mrs. Ralph (Barbara) Webb, Mrs. Glenn Ray (Patricia) Ford, and Joy Brown; sons, Ronald Black and wife, Zola, Chris Black and wife, Tammy; daughter-in-law, Maxine W. Black; special friends, Coot Hembree, Mamie Greene, Rosie Black, and Viola Ford, all of Hartford; 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Monday at Black’s Chapel Church, with Rev. Ransom Hall and Rev. Leon Large officiating, with burial in Black’s Chapel Cemetery. Grandsons and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.The body was been moved to the home of Wanda Benton, 4020 Big Creek Road, Hartford, TN, where the family received friends Sunday evening.Manes Funeral home in charge.
