Sgt. Richard Robbins, s. of John Robbins, Jr. & Mary Boardman, b. June 8, 1687 at Wethersfield, Conn. By late 1727, Richard was appointed Sargeant of the Wethersfield Train band. He d. testate Feb. 7, 1737/8 at Wethersfield, Ζ 51.

On Jan. 11, 1710/11 at Wethersfield (by Rev. S. Mix), Richard m. Martha Curtis, dau. of Sgt. John Curtis, Jr. & Elizabeth Wright, b. Jan. 17, 1690/1. She d. Aug. 21, 1753 at Wethersfield, Ζ 63. They had eleven children b. of record at Wethersfield, several dying in infancy or their youth:

• i. Obedience Robbins (son), b. Jan. 6, 1711/2, d. the next day Jan. 7, 1711/12.

• ii. Mary Robbins, b. Mar. 10, 1713/14, d. Nov. 7, 1781 at that part of Wethersfield now the Town of Rocky Hill; m. Dec. 11, 1735 at Wethersfield (by Rev. Daniel Russel), her cousin Dea. Nathaniel Robbins, s. of Capt Joshua Robbins, Jr. and Sarah Bidwell, b. Sept. 7, 1708 at Wethersfield. He d. Oct. 5, 1783 at Rocky Hill, Conn. Eight children of the family.

• iii. The stillborn twin of Mary, b. and d. Mar. 10, 1713/14.

• iv. Capt. John Robbins, Esq., b. Jan. 5, 1715/16, d. May 31, 1798 at Wethersfield; m. 1) Jan. 13, 1736/37 at Wethersfield (Rev. Daniel Russel), Martha Williams, d. of Capt. Jacob Williams and his 1st wife Martha Belden, b. Mar. 23, 1716/17 at Wethersfield. She d. June 10, 1770 at Wethersfield. Eleven children of the family. John m. 2) Jan. 10, 1771 at Wethersfield, Sarah Boardman, dau. of Cornet Joseph Boardman and Mary Belden, and widow of Capt. Crafts Wright, b. Feb. 4, 1730/31 at Wethersfield. She d. Feb 10, 1784 at Wethersfield. One child of the second marriage. John purportedly m. 3) Nov. 25, 1784, Mary Russel, the spinster dau. of Rev. Daniel Russell and Lydia Stillman, b. Aug 13, 1737 at Wethersfield. She d. Aug. 27, 1825 at Wethersfield. No children of this marriage.

• v. Rachel Robbins, b. Mar. 11, 1717/18, d. Oct. 12, 1807 at Colebrook, Conn.; m. Oct. 26, 1738 at Wethersfield (Rev. Daniel Russel), Lieut. John Stillman, Jr., s. of Dea. John Stillman and Mary Wolcott, b. Aug. 9, 1717 at Wethersfield. He d. July 15, 1789 at Sandisfield, Mass. Nine children of the family.

• vi. Esther Robbins, b. May 10, 1720; m. Mar. 25, 1742 at Wethersfield (Rev. Daniel Russel), John Williams, s. of Stephen Williams, Sr. and his wife Abigail, b. Feb. 4, 1718/19 at Wethersfield. He d. Oct. 11, 1748 at Wethersfield at 29 years of age (g.s., Ζ 30). Three children of the family, only one reached maturity and married. Esther was administratrix of her husband's estate and if she m. again, which would seem likely, there is no current information of who her 2nd husband was.

• vii. Elizabeth Robbins, b. July 4, 1723, d. Sept. 25, 1775 at Pittsfield, Mass.; m. 1) June 27, 1745 at Wethersfield (by Rev. Daniel Russel), Stephen Williams, Jr., s. of Stephen Williams and his wife Abigail, b. circa 1721 at Wethersfield. He d. intestate before Sept. 22, 1747. One child of the marriage, son Oswald. Elizabeth m. 2) Dec. 21, 1749 at Wethersfield (by Rev. Daniel Russel), her 3rd cousin Dea. Josiah Wright, s. of Dea. Ebenezer Wright and Sarah Butler, b. June 16, 1728 at Wethersfield. He d. Apr. 16, 1806 at Pittsfield, Mass. Four known children of the 2nd marriage, but there may have been others.

• viii. Martha Robbins, b. Dec. 1, 1725, d. in her youth Oct. 30, 1729.

• ix. Experience Robbins, b. Feb. 26, 1727/28, d. July 7, 1765 at Glastoinbury, Conn.; m. circa 1748, the Hon. Elisha Hollister, s. of Dea. Thomas Hollister and Dorothy Hill, b. circa 1722 at Glastonbury, Conn., where he d. Nov. 12, 1800. Nine children of the family.

• x. Obedience Robbins (son), b. Mar. 12, 1729/30, d. in infancy June 3, 1730.

• xi. Martha Robbins, b. Mar. 19, 1731/32, d. Feb. 3, 1788 at that part of Wethersfield now Rocky Hill, Conn.; m. Dec. 4, 1751 at Wethersfield (Rev. Daniel Russel), Capt. Moses Williams, s. Capt. Jacob Williams and his 2nd wife Eunice Standish, b. Sept. 21, 1729 at Wethersfield. He d. Feb. 7, 1810 at Rocky Hill, Conn. Seven known children of the family.
