Wagoner, OK-McDANIEL, Dorothy Laverne, 84, homemaker, died Wednesday. Visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Services 2 p.m. Saturday, First Christian Church, Mallett Funeral Home, Wagoner.

Funeral services for Dorothy L. (Sullivan) McDaniel, 84, life-long resident of Wagoner will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Wagoner. Dorothy was born October 15, 1925 in Wagoner, Oklahoma to her parents, Grover and Velma M. (Cothrun) Sullivan. After graduating Wagoner High School, she was married to Thurman McDaniel and began their life in together in Wagoner. Dorothy served for several years as the Wagoner City Clerk. She was proud of her hometown and was a member of the Historical Society, the Books at Noon Club and a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Wagoner. She owned and operated the M-S Dress Shop in downtown Wagoner for 10 years. Dorothy also helped her family members, welcoming guests and working at Sullivan's Restaurant and Baker's Restaurant for many years. However, Dorothy's most rewarding vocation was that of a homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress and a wonderful cook. Dorothy always supported her children and grandchildren in their school activities, in band and as a leader of the Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girls. Clearly, her family was always the priority of her life. Surrounded by her family, Dorothy passed away Wednesday, February 24 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thurman; her sisters, Viva Dean Baker and Luella Fisher and by her nephew, Mike Day. She is survived by her daughters, Kay Hunt and her husband, Brady of Midwest City, Oklahoma and LuAnn Jenkins and her husband, Mike of Coweta; two brothers, Vernon Sullivan and his wife, Eunice of Wagoner and Franklin Sullivan and his wife, Karen of Tulsa; two sisters, Mary Day and Joyce Lemley both of Wagoner; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 26 at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. Pallbearers for Dorothy will be Ken Wilkey, Steve Wilkey, Phillip Sullivan, Dan Sullivan, David Sullivan and Larry Coates. Funeral arrangements and interment in Elmwood Cemetery are under the direction of Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
