Birtie Armstrong, 82, died Wednesday, November 24, 2994, at Compere's Nursing Home in Jackson. Visitation is 10 a.m. Friday at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Armstrong was a native of Smith County and grew up in the Delta in Bolivar County, moving to Rankin County in 1974. She lost her husband, Roy Armstrong in 1955, and had raised her four children on very little income by the labor of her hands. She was a member of Shaw Baptist Church in Shaw.

Survivors include four children; daughters, Jo Ann Shows and husband Robert of Brandon and Linda Everett of Brandon; sons, Lavell Armstrong of Brandon and Glenn Armstrong of Clinton; sister, Louise Walters of Shaw; grandchildren, Brent Shows, Kim Baker, Jeremy Armstrong, Tonya Armstrong, Oathen Everett, David Armstrong and Tim Rutland; great grandchildren, Cody M. M. Baker, Payton Baker, who shared her great grandmother's birthday, Dylan Shows, Kristin and Katlyn Armstrong, Marion and Christian Cerami and Emily Rutland and a host of nieces and nephews.
