Geraldine Virginia Stanley, 93, of Flora, IL died at 9:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at her home in Flora.
She was born January 9, 1917 in Marion County, IL to Adam Cassie & Jencie (Snyder) Hunt. She married Orville Doyle Stanley on June 15, 1933 in Clay County, IL. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1960.
She was a C.N.A. at local nursing homes and Prairie Estates. Geraldine was busy with and devoted to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by 4 sons: Loy (June) Stanley of Valparaiso, IN, Orville (Margaret) Stanley Jr. of Dallas, TX, Ronnie (Barbara) Stanley of Wesson, MS, and Terry (Carla) Stanley of Foster, OK; 3 daughters: Shirley (Fred) Burdine of Flora, Jencie (David) Thompson of Clay City, and Trudy (Ronnie) Hurd of Flora; 31 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 daughters (Patty Fulk & Joy Murphy), 1 brother, 1 half-brother, 5 half-sisters, 1 grandson (Carl Johnson), 2 great-grandchildren (Thomas Roley & Tiffany Thompson).
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday (February 28, 2010) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Ben VanHyning officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Saturday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church and may be received at the funeral home.
