Obituary. Kate Thorson--
Kate Thorson was born August 17, 1862 at Trolnas Asmundtorp Skåne Sweden and departed this life January 7, 1956 at the Smith Nursing Home at Clay Center, Nebraska, at the age of 93 years, four months and 10 days.

She was baptized into the Christian faith in infancy and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith while in Sweden.

After spending her first years in Sweden, she sailed for America, arrived in this country November 28, 1886.

She was united in marriage with John Thorson July 31, 1893. To this union two children were born, Esther and Hilmer. She also mothered three step-children. Her husband, two children and two step-children preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Stockholm Lutheran Church until 1922 when she transferred her membership to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Ong, where she was a faithful member until her death.

Most of her life ws spent in and around the Ong community.

Left to mourn her departure are one step-daughter, Mrs. Mamie Nelson of Ong; six grandchildren, Nadine Erickson of Glendale, Calif., Mrs. Gayle Gunn of Hardy, Vincent Erickson of Hastings, Kermit Erickson of Grand Island, Sgt. Jess w. Nelson of Tombstone Ariz., Mrs. Roy thru of Ong; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev Delpho Peterson at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Tuesday. A Mixed quartet composed of Mrs Lynn Benson, Mrs Harry Pearson and Clinton Peterson sang three selections, "In the Sweet, Bye and Bye" "There is No Night There" and We Shall Sleep, but Not Forever." They were accompanied by Mrs Clinton Peterson. Pallbearers were Abel Christenson, Adolph Malm, Ernst Nelson, Harry Hendrickson, John Pearson and Luther Engdahl. She was laid to rest in the Stockholm Swedish Lutheran cemetery.

Those present for dinner Tuesday at the Roy Thurin home were Mr and Mr Kermit Erickson and Carol Grand Island, Mr and Mrs Vincent Erickson and family, Mrs Edna Karnatz, Mrs George Idt and Gerald and Carolyn Thurin, Hastings, Mr and Mrs Gayle Gunn, Barbara and Gary of Hardy, Mrs. James Powers and Rhonda of DeWitt and Miss Mary Nelson. Mrs. Powers and Rhonda spent a few days at the Thurin home.
