1922-2010

Edna Carol Schoenberger, 88, of La Grande, died Feb. 18 at Grande Ronde Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. March 13 at the Union Cemetery.

Edna was born Jan. 13, 1922, to Otha Clark and Ruth Cecil (Rue) Stephens in Heppner. She married Clarence Herman Schoenberger on Dec. 24, 1940. They ranched at Monument, Kimberly and then finally Union.

Edna worked with the elderly at Hot Lake when it was a nursing home. She sold Avon and was a volunteer at the Union County Historical Museum. Her hobbies included reading, needlework and painting. She enjoyed working in her garden and taking care of her home. After the death of her husband she traveled with her son.

Survivors include her children, Carol Ann Crandell of Harper, Georgia Lee Dearing of Texas, Margaret Mae Wise of Madras and Gary Schoenberger of Nyssa; and eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the GRH Hospice in care of Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 Seventh St. in La Grande.
