She was born August 1, 1934 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Shirley worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain for 16 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain where she sang in the choir, volunteered at church functions and was a member of the Cansius (St. Peter Seniors) Group.
During elections, Shirley worked the polls. She volunteered at the Lorain Palace Theater and enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, traveling and reading.
She is survived by her children David Yacobucci of Columbus, Daniel York of Kissimmee, Florida, Diane Walsh (Neil) of North Olmsted and Donald J. Yacobucci (Sara) of Vermilion and grandchildren Angeline Walsh, Leo Walsh and Andrew Yacobucci.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank J. Tomsic in 1970 and Angeline M. Tomsic (nee Eisenhardt) in 2003.
The family will receive friends Sunday 3-7 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11:00 am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
