The last name spelling is very confusing and is hindering my progress.
Joseph Cephas (Buckley) Bulkley born in Wayne NY. wife Zuba Mills, daughter of Jabez C. Mills and Giddy (Getta). They had four children, Elizabeth, Gertrude, Edward Leander (my great-grandfather) and James Brace (I now believe James Brace (originally thought to be Buckley) was 1 year old when my great-great grandparents married, so I am not sure if Zuba was married to a Brace before she married Joseph C Buckley, or the boy was born out of wedlock). After Zuba and Joseph divorced, the two girls were put (admitted) to "Davenport Home for Girls" in Bath. this was done either by their mother, Zuba, or their grandfather, Jabez C. Mills. Zuba remarried James McQuiggin before the 1875 NY census and had another son, Arthur McQuiggin born sometime in 1875: Both boys were listed as living with the couple in Urbana as "step sons to James McQuiggin, and this is where the re-spelling of the last name happened.

James Brace (stepson to James McQuiggin) 11 yrs old
Edward Buckley (stepson to James McQuiggin) 4 yrs old

Betsy lived in Hammondsport before placement in the girls home, (The Mills house was in the Hammondsport area). She was admitted to the home on March 30, 1883 (18 years old if the dates are correct). She was released on May 2nd, 1889 (23 or 24 years old) if again, date is correct. Edward Leander (my great-grandfather)was living with the Ansil Carpenter family in 1880 during the census in Tyrone, NY, Schuyler county. He was listed as 8 years old at this time. My grandmother told her oldest daughter that Edward Leander was taken into a family named Carpenter after his own mother "deserted" the 4 children. Research shows James Brace may have ended up at 16 years old with the Elwood family in Tyrone, NY.

Research is pending on all information.
