Tobias Kern filed for divorce in 1917 charging desertion. Their children were George 1903-1952, Charles 1905-1968. May w/o Luther Herbein 1907-1981 These children are not mentioned in her obituary, only those of her second husband and his children of another marriage. Son Charles names only father Tobias in death record, mother as "unknown". Her mother's obituary in 1911 names her as wife of Tobias and her father names her as wife of Jacob Bortz in 1920. Tobias' obituary does not mention Maggie's daughter Bessie, born 1911, as his child. Maggie used her maiden name when she married Jacob Bortz.
