Isle of Palms
Claude Lott Kammer, 92, of Isle of Palms, SC, died Friday at East Cooper Regional Medical Center. Kammer was born in Blackville, SC, on Oct 13, 1909, a son of the late Nancy Elizabeth Lott Kammer and John Calhoun Kammer, Sr. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in geology. Kammer was a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II from 1941-1945. A long time resident of Greenville, he worked as Director of Investigations for Liberty Life Insurance Company for 39 years before retiring in 1975. He was an avid piano and organ player as well as former choir director for First Baptist Chruch of Blackville and First Baptist Church of Newberry.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Floride Kammer, of 51 years; a daughter Nancy Kammer Price; a son, James Claude Kammer, and three grandchildren, Meredith Anne Price, Coker Nelson Price III and Grace Martin Kammer, all of Isle of Palms, SC.
The funeral service will be Monday morning, in First United Methodist Chruch of Isle of Palms at 0 o'clock. Burial will follow at 3 o'clock Monday in Blackville Cemetery, Blackville, SC. Friends may call at J Henry Stuhr Inc, Mount Pleasant Chapel. Sunday evening from 6 to 7 o'clock.
