Edwin was a journalist for his entire career, first at Uncle Remus Home Magazine, founded by his father-in-law, Joel Chandler Harris. He also worked for the Atlanta Georgian and the Atlanta Journal. At the Journal, he was an editorial writer and also wrote a popular sports column under the pseudonym "Ole Timer".
