Lewis Ensign, who was taken to the Traverse City insane asylum two weeks ago last Thursday died last week and was brought to Hope for interment; he leaves a wife and two children. Midland Sun dated 29 Nov 1901 Page-8.

Taken from "The RECORD" reads as follows:
Lewis Ensign, of Hope, died Friday, Nov 22, aged 38 years,at the asylum at Traverse City, where he had been taken for treatment a few weeks ago. He had lived in Hope for 17 years, and was a highly esteemed citizen. He leaves a wife and two children there, besides two brothers, Bert and Myrtie, of Gladwin township, to mourn his loss. The local court of Foresters, of which he was a member, officiated at the funeral. He had a policy for $500 in the order. The RECORD is requested to extend thanks to neighbors and members of the Foresters for many kindnesses shown during their bereavement.
