James Madison Drake
Birth: Mar. 25, 1837
Death: Nov. 28, 1913

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He was awarded the CMOH for his heroism while commanding a skirmish line on May 6, 1864 at Bermuda Hundred, Virginia while serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the 9th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry. Later awarded the brevet rank of Brigadier General in the New Jersey State Militia for his heroism. (bio by: Russ Dodge)

You fought with my great great uncle, John J. Waters, company G 9th NJ verteran volunteer infantry. Captured at the battle of Drury's Bluff on May 16, 1864. Died in captivity in Sept. 1864 at 23 years of age. Enlisted in 1861, reenlisted in 1864.Four year...(Read more)
