Mr. Atkins was born April 15, 1893 in Page County and was a son of the late George W. and Mary Jenkins Atkins.
He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Highways and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
On Dec. 24, 1919 he married the former Beulah Judd, who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Alvin L. Atkins of Hagerstown, Md.
The funeral was conducted Friday at the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray by the Rev. Russel J. Crouse. Burial was in Beahm's Chapel Cemetery.
