WHITESBORO-Thomas Madison Stubblefield, 71, pioneer resident of the Vilott community, died suddenly at his home here at 3p.m. Monday. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Vilott Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. W. E. Nation. Interment was in the Vilott community cemetery, directed by Summy.
Mr. Stubblefield was born Aug. 15, 1871, in Hawkins county, Tennessee, a son of Benjamin and Mary Stubblefield. He came to Texas with his parents when he was five years of age, and had lived around Whitesboro for 46 years, having been engaged in farming. He married Miss Alice Bartlett July 28, 1895. They moved to Whitesboro three months ago.
Survivors include his wife: five sons, Claude Stubblefield of Camp Pickett, Va, Aubrey Stubblefield of Thalia, Pearl, Alfred and Arthur Stubblefield of Whitesboro: four daughters, Mrs. L. E. Hullum of Los Angeles. Mrs. W. H. Goldston of Sherman, Mrs. J. L. Phelps of Dexter and Mrs. Bill Davis of Whitesboro: his father, Benjamin Stubblefield of the Vilott Community and eight brothers, none of whom live in Texas.
