Akke Gerrits Herrema (became known as Agnes when she came to the States), was born on 3 Oct 1867, in Northwest Friesland, Netherlands (birth certificate number 204), the daughter of Gerrit Gerrits Herrema and Sytske Sydses Reversma.

Emigrated to the USA from Rotterdam, Holland, through Ellis Island, New York, arriving on 26 Mar 1913, at the age of 45, aboard the ship Nieuw Amsterdam.
