Mrs. Windham was the daughter of Rev. James Madison Curtis and Rebecca Lowery Curtis of the Curtis Wells community of Morgan County, AL, the community named for her family.
Her father was a minister of the Christian church and was well known in Morgan County.
After the passing of her father,her mother, Mrs. Roberta Curtis, moved to Birmingham to be nearer her children. Her mother died at the home of Mrs. Windham in 1914.
Carrie first married a Mr. Eastham but was widowed by 1910 at which time she is found in the census records living with her sister, Lela Murphy and her family in Birmingham. At the time of Carrie Windham's death, she resided at 1010 3rd Avenue, NE, Birmingham, AL.
